You Shall Not Covet

The King James Version of the Bible says this in 1 Corinthians 12:31: “But covet earnestly the best gifts…” Paul says that we should covet spiritual gifts. Such a statement might cause us to pause. “I thought covetousness was a bad thing!” Well, the original word means to earnestly desire something. That is not necessarily bad. It depends on what we earnestly desire. If we earnestly desire someone else’s property, it is wrong. If we earnestly desire holiness, it’s not. In this lesson, John will deal with this subject and more.
